Modders are remaking Warcraft 2 in Warcraft 3: Reforged

Modders are remaking Blizzard's 1995 real-time strategy classic Warcraft 2 in Warcraft 3: Reforged - and it looks great! Chronicles of the Second War is a Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness remake that already has the first four campaign missions ready to play. There are new unit models, campaign implementation and extended lore. According to a post on the Icy Veins forum, the story will draw from established lore in the original games, MMO World of Warcraft and the Warcraft Chronicle history book in a bid to iron out any discrepancies. Quake's enhanced edition adds accessibility options, 26 years after original release

Accessibility options have been added to Quake, 26 years after the original game was released. Last year an enhanced version of the game was released, which Bethesda is continuing to update and support. This third update adds a number of accessibility options, mainly affecting visuals and voice chat. Options like high contrast and an alternate typeface ensure that menus can be more easily read. Players can also customise the amount of screen flashing. [Read More]

Radeon R9 290/290X review | Eurogamer.net

Forged with its latest GCN 1.1 architecture at centre, the AMD R9 290X sports a cutting edge Hawaii XT chipset that sets out to better Nvidia's cards - right up to the mighty GTX Titan - for a considerable discount. And unlike the 260X and 270X cards released earlier this year, which were simple rebrands of the existing HD 7790 and 7870 GPUs respectively, this is the company's most forward-thinking entry in the series yet. Skyrim fans have started a Switch modding scene to do what Bethesda won't

When Skyrim launched on Switch last year, Bethesda was upfront about the fact it had no plans to support mods on Nintendo's machine. "We would love to see it happen," Bethesda's Todd Howard told Eurogamer, "but it's not something we're actively doing." Twelve months later and official Skyrim mod support for the console is still nowhere to be seen. Yet, in a quiet corner of the internet, an enthusiastic community of Skyrim fans has picked up Bethesda's mantle, and - with a lot of dedication, and a touch of grey-area system circumvention - has managed to establish a burgeoning mod scene on Switch, entirely of its own volition. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End review

Gaming's most confident storytellers close the book on Nathan Drake's adventures with their best chapter yet. This is a rare treat: the creators of a popular series and a beloved character laying them to rest with elegant finality, and going out on an absolute high. In games as in other media, dignified endings aren't easy to come by. But Naughty Dog have outdone themselves with what they say (and I believe) is their last Uncharted game, and the last appearance of the series' hero Nathan Drake. [Read More]

We're not kidding - the Saints Row The Third remaster is exceptional

You've got to give credit where it's due - against all expectations, the new remaster of Saints Row The Third isn't just good, it's very special indeed. After the disappointment of the Switch conversion, PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One users get the deluxe treatment: there's carefully updated, more detail-rich artwork, a totally revamped lighting model, a switch to physically-based rendering, temporal anti-aliasing/upscaling and a profound improvement in performance. If you're gaming on Xbox One X, much of the game can even play out at 60 frames per second. [Read More]

Detective Pikachu star pours cold water on those sequel plans

Plans for a Detective Pikachu film sequel were in the works following the successful launch of Pokémon's live-action big screen debut but now, on the film's second anniversary, we have our clearest indicator yet we won't see a Detective Pikachu 2 after all. Here is the film's star (no, not Pikachu) Justice Smith, being asked if he'd still be up for it: "I would love to participate in Detective Pikachu 2. [Read More]
