On April 9th 2017, Hakam Karim - moderately better known to the world as Hakoom - heard a 'ping' that shook his world to its core.
Hakoom had spent the last few hours unlocking the 'Master of Quality' trophy in Nioh. It's a tough one, a real endgame number, the kind of trophy that requires hours of farming, the kind of trophy people write guides about. But it was worth it, and that ping proved it.

UPDATE 28/08/2014 5.57pm: The first gameplay from Terra Battle has emerged in the following trailer outlining the game's "Download Starter" model.
The gameplay footage begins shortly after the two minute mark and we see the game's tile-based spacial strategy in action. It's a bit difficult to grasp the incatracies of it in a couple of minutes, but it should give one a basic idea of what sort of game to expect from Hironobu Sakaguchi's latest.

Alas, my recent attempts to change my Xbox gamertag to SweatySekiro420 have all failed. That's because the character cap limit was recently changed from 15 to 12 - ending my dreams of finally owning a truly cool gamer name. Yet players particularly determined to keep their long titles appear to have found a way around the new limit: by hauling their Xbox 360s down from the attic. As posted by Talers-Username on reddit, the Xbox 360 still allows players to enter a 15-character gamertag.

Sonic the Hedgehog's second movie outing is still months from release, but already Sega would like you to know that a third entry in the unexpectedly endearing live-action series is on the way. And if that wasn't enough live-action Sonic-themed news to be getting on with, how about this: Knuckles is also set to start in his very own TV show.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, given how far out both projects still appear to be, details remain relatively scant beyond their official announcement; there's one bit of major news, however, with Paramount Pictures confirming Idris Elba - who's set to makes his debut as Knuckles in the second Sonic movie - will be reprising his role as the cocky echidna in the live-action television show, said to be airing on Paramount Plus.

Treyarch has restored Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War accounts incorrectly banned for cheating in Zombies after a community outcry.
Last week, Eurogamer reported on how Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players were terrified of getting banned for playing Zombies to high rounds after a spate of high-profile ban reports from those who proclaimed their innocence.
Eurogamer news cast: the improvements the PS5 desperately needs The Zombies community surfaced a disconnect message called "

Why does Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of Gran Turismo, get special dispensation from Sony when he makes a game? Because each main Gran Turismo release has sold roughly 10 million copies - or more.
The best of the bunch is Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, released 2001, with a gargantuan 14.80 million copies sold worldwide.
Gran Turismo 4 and the original Gran Turismo are almost neck-and-neck behind GT3, with 10.86 million and 10.

Kaz Ayabe's name doesn't quite carry the same weight as Keiji Inafune, Goichi Suda or Yasumi Matsuno outside of Japan. But like his compatriots in Level 5's Guild series, the sequence of short 3DS games to which Ayabe's Attack of the Friday Monsters belongs, he's a strong, singular voice, and one that's responsible for one of the most delightful offshoots in Japanese gaming over the last decade. Boku no Natsuyasumi, or My Summer Vacation, has earned Ayabe and his studio Millenium Kitchen a reputation in Japan for peculiarly gentle adventures, though sadly none of the series has ever been translated for the west since its inception in 2000.

Death Stranding's multiplayer has, like much of the game itself, remained much of a mystery up until the game's release.
Though Death Stranding is not an online only game, this is a single player adventure with an emphasis on online connectivity, which can populate the world with structures built by other players and cargo they failed to deliver.
There's no direct co-operative or competitive multiplayer in Death Stranding, and though it's asymmetric and largely automatic, but well worth learning how it works to benefit both yourself and - in keeping with the themes of the game - other players.
