I'm in awe of this Skyrim trick shot compilation

It's hard to believe that later this year we'll be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a number that's making me feel rather old. But it seems some players have put those years to good use by religiously practicing the game's archery, resulting in combinations so ridiculous they've left me scratching my head. A compilation shared on Reddit by user "Walter Fring" has attracted a fair bit of attention for the absurdity of some of the shots, all neatly edited into a video with jaunty Zelda music in the background. Konami's canned Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls being revived for Apple Arcade

Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, the canned mobile-exclusive instalment of Konami's legendary platform series, is being resurrected for Apple Arcade. Grimoire of Souls was initially announced back in 2018, promising a portable slice of gothic action-platforming focussed on the adventures of Genya Arikado - a "persona of Alucard - as he attempted to stop the impending resurrection of Dracula. That quest took him to worlds inside magical grimoires for familiar bouts of side-scrolling action, playable both solo and co-operatively, and across a variety of different modes - with the game featuring a number of other playable characters, including Simon Belmont, Maria Renard, Charlotte Aulin, and, Glyph Master Shanoa. Nine years later, one feature in GTA4 has never been bettered - here's its story

Charting the phenomenal progress of video games these past few decades is easy enough. You've probably seen an image of PlayStation-era Lara Croft in all her stark polygonal beauty contrasted side-by-side with her modern character model. If not, perhaps you've seen Wolfenstein: The New Order's B.J. Blazkowicz sat next to his coarsely drawn early incarnation. Look at all those pixels, all that detail, and marvel at how far we've come. Older PlayStation games heading to PC is a win for accessibility

With the launch of the PlayStation PC label for Sony's PC ports, more players are able to enjoy titles such as Horizon: Zero Dawn, Days Gone, and God of War. With these being ports, accessibility improvements are usually only minor parts of the package - such as keyboard and mouse remapping. But with PC, the existence of third-party mods can open up areas of the games that could allow disabled players to better enjoy them. [Read More]

Why Nier matters | Eurogamer.net

I don't think anyone at Square Enix saw Nier Automata as a multi-million-selling, genre-defying hit. The action-RPG sort of stumbled into the spotlight in 2017, tasked with amassing attention in the months following the Nintendo Switch's incredible debut with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. A tough act to follow, no doubt, but one that Automata somehow managed, going on to land multiple game of the year accolades, draw millions upon millions of fans to a previously-unknown franchise, and selling upwards of five million copies over four years later.
