In news likely to fill undead skeletons across the length and breadth of the Sea of Thieves with utmost dread, Rare has announced that pet dogs will finally be coming to its multiplayer pirate adventure in its September update. First confirmed in seconds-long, blink-and-you'll-miss-it snippet buried in a Game Pass ad during last night's Gamescom Live showcase, Rare has now formally unveiled its forthcoming adorable doggy pets over on Sea of Thieves' official Twitter feed. The modern day Thief reboot that never was

Imagine a world where we never had to debate whether Square Enix's 2014 Thief reboot was called Thief or Thief 4 or Thi4f. Imagine instead that the franchise remained with Ion Storm Austin, developers of Thief: Deadly Shadows. That's a world we very nearly saw, as exclusive research reveals Ion Storm was working on exactly that in 2004 - a never-announced Thief reboot led by Dishonored's Harvey Smith and inspired heavily by Splinter Cell. Borderlands 3 now lets you solve puzzles to sort poop and assist real-world science

If you've ever want to contribute to the betterment of mankind, but also sort of just wanted to play video games instead, Gearbox has the perfect compromise, courtesy of its new Borderlands Science initiative - which, long story short, lets you organise corrupted poop data in order to assist the scientific community. Borderlands Science might have lofty goals, but it takes the form of a jaunty little puzzle game that can now be accessed from a new arcade machine aboard Borderlands 3's Sanctuary III. [Read More]

Control Ultimate Edition - how next-gen consoles transform a classic game

Remedy's Control has a special place in the collective heart of Digital Foundry. Not only is it one of the best games of 2019, the revised Northlight engine is also an absolute showcase of the state of the art in rendering technology, which also happens to feature one of the best implementations we've seen of hardware accelerated ray tracing. Somehow, the developer managed to squeeze the core experience (bar RT) into the last-gen hardware, but now owners of the next-gen consoles get to see Northlight stretch its legs: Control on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles is a delight. Gravity Rush Remastered review | Eurogamer.net

This unimpeachable PS4 reissue exposes some rough, rudimentary design in Sony Japan's cult adventure, but its charm and originality endure. This might seem an odd thing to write, but Bluepoint Games is currently one of my favourite developers. You can bemoan the circumstances that this Austin, Texas remaster specialist is profiting from - the holes that, two years in, continue to gape in Sony's internal game production schedule for PlayStation 4, with multiple major projects canned or writhing in development hell - but you cannot argue with the work. Monster Hunter World Boaboa quests: Where to find Boaboa locations and complete By Our Powers Combined

The Monster Hunter World Boaboa quests are an optional late game questline that is necessary to complete all of the Lynian Researcher's Surveyors Set research requests. They will also give you the Tailraider Signal upon completion of this questline, which can come in useful in a pinch! [Read More]
