Someone has completed Elden Ring in less than 13 minutes - and even took out a boss along the way. In a "world's first" under 13-minute run, YouTuber Mitchriz uses "zips", peculiar techniques that let you catapult across the Lands Between, essentially skipping whole areas.

NetherRealms' DC universe fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us has just been added to the Xbox One's backwards compatibility library.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is on Games on Demand, while its disc-only Ultimate Edition will also work on Microsoft's latest console.
Back in 2013 a PS4 version of Injustice: Gods Among Us was released, and Microsoft said it was unlikely the game would see the light of day on Xbox One.

Would you believe that the PlayStation 4 remaster of Parappa the Rapper is actually the PSP version running under emulation? That's the remarkable claim put forward by hackers using compromised PlayStation 4s to examine game code, first revealed by 'KiiWii' on the GBATemp forum (with a tip of the hat to Ars Technica for its write-up of the story so far). The actual remastering - such as it is - appears to come in the form of a high resolution texture pack that swaps out the original PSP assets for renditions more becoming of a current-gen system.

Scavengers studio Midwinter Entertainment has been sold by Improbable, Eurogamer can reveal. The sale to Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive marks another studio gone from Improbable, as it ditches its previous designs on video game development backed by its ever-nebulous SpatialOS cloud technology. As a result of the sale, Scavengers' console versions - currently being tested via a closed alpha - have been cancelled, Eurogamer has been told. Its PC version currently remains alive, as a small internal team keeps it operational.

The superb Subnautica is free from the Epic Games Store.
The undersea survival game is free to download until 27th December. It normally costs £19.49.
The Epic Games Store is the Fortnite and Unreal engine company's attempt to take on Steam. It offers developers 88 per cent revenue share, which is more than Valve's 70 per cent standard.
It launched recently with new games from Bastion maker Supergiant, Abzû developer Giant Squid and Killing Floor studio Tripwire, and Epic has pledged to offer a free game every two weeks.

The PC remakes of Hideo Kojima's PT keep on coming - and this one's got VR support.
Unreal PT is a remake of the original PT by game developer and 3D artist Radius Gordello. It's available now for free on itch.io and, based on comments from those who've given it a shot, is very good indeed.
Radius Gordello said they spent nine months building Unreal PT, recreating from scratch textures, models, animations and gameplay from the original.
