Intellivison's troubled Amico gets official unboxing but still no hint of a release date

Intellivision has released an official Amico unboxing video, insisting it continues to "push forward" with the trouble console's release, despite the project having now been delayed three times and a recent SEC filing suggesting the company may not be able to operate beyond July. Intellivision's newly released unboxing video sees chief technology officer John Alvarado showcasing a "fully functional" Amico console, supposedly intended to be shipped to Hans Ippish, president of European operations, for demonstration to European partners. On the trail of the odd one out in the Virtua Fighter series

Editor's note: After an outrageously long hiatus, Sega's Virtua Fighter is back with the release of Ultimate Showdown on PlayStation this coming week. To celebrate, we're republishing some older pieces on the series, including this piece from June last year. SEGA has just celebrated its 60th anniversary - happy birthday you mad, beautiful bastards - which seems as good a time as any to reflect on the company's finest. Maybe it's OutRun, in all its iconic glory, Super Monkey Ball with its minimalist brilliance or perhaps you could even look a little closer to the modern day and put Yakuza 0 forward as the best of the bunch. Inscryption, the "dark and disturbing" deck-building horror game from Pony Island and The Hex developer Daniel Mullins, will be shuffling onto PC just in time for Halloween, on 19th October. Rare on Sea of Thieves' massive Pirates of the Caribbean update and getting crossovers right

One of the more leftfield surprises to come out of this year's E3 (although in hindsight, it's such a natural fit, it shouldn't have been much of a surprise at all), was the announcement that Captain Jack Sparrow would be soon making his way to the Sea of Thieves as part of a mammoth new Pirates of the Caribbean crossover story arc for the swashbuckling multiplayer adventure. And ahead of its arrival this Tuesday, 22nd June, we had chance to chat with Rare to find out more about its impressively ambitious free update. [Read More]

Rogue Trooper Redux review | Eurogamer.net

A wonky blaster retains its charm, but Rogue Trooper still deserves better. War is hell. But sometimes the view is spectacular. One of the most memorable things about Rogue Trooper first time round, on PS2 and Xbox in 2006, was its beautifully realised prog-rock skybox, a gorgeous, pulsing black hole haloed by sparkling particles that lazily waltzed in slow, chromatic eddies. The new Redux version again drops players directly into the action, firing you down into the toxic battlefields of Nu-Earth from low orbit in a screaming and fairly rickety-looking deployment pod. Burnt out by abuse over a game he didn't make, the creator of Jalopy is trying to move on

In January 2019, Greg Pryjmachuk, the founder of the studio Minskworks and the developer of Jalopy, was working from home on his latest project Landlord's Super when he caught sight of an unusual announcement from Jalopy's publisher Excalibur Games on Twitter. Excalibur had just revealed its latest game, Road to Guangdong, a simulation/narrative title about a trip across China in order to save a family restaurant from ruin. For Pryjmachuk, the game seemed somewhat familiar. [Read More]
