Face-Off: Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remaster on PS4

Hot off the heels of last year's excellent PlayStation 3 and Vita remaster package, Final Fantasy X and X-2 land on PlayStation 4 with a string of upgrades - a remaster of a remaster, if you will. It's not been long since our last travail through Spira: precisely 13 months dividing this latest release from the last two. In that time, Square Enix has continued the same remastering process by updating even more assets and effects. [Read More]

Kingdom Come: Deliverance tips - a guide to surviving Medieval Bohemia

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a bit of an oddity, in a lot of ways. Its systems are unusual and sometimes unclear, and its gameplay is built around them in a way that lends itself to the idea of realism and replicating the sensation of doing things for yourself. Because of that, things are often done slightly differently to how you'd expect in the game, be that saving or potion-making or even combat itself. [Read More]

Kojima explains Metal Gear Rising switch to Platinum

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has explained his decision to switch development of Rising from Kojima Productions to Bayonetta creator Platinum Games. The original Rising, unveiled in 2009, got to the point where the staff no longer knew what the core of the game should be, Andriasang reports. Kojima believed the project would probably not be completed, and so it was cancelled in secret. Then, Platinum, which expressed its love of the concept, stepped in. [Read More]

Playing The Ascent on Xbox Game Pass for PC makes me wish I was playing on Steam

The Ascent is a bit of a mess on Windows 10. I've already reported how the cyberpunk twin-stick shooter's latest patch negatively affected the Windows 10 version of the game, with stuttering, poor framerate and other technical struggles experienced by players. Here's the Digital Foundry video breakdown for The Ascent, tested on all Xbox consoles - and PC. I'm in the same boat. I'm playing The Ascent via Xbox Game Pass on PC, and therefore the Windows 10 version, and ever since the recently-released patch came out, it's been pretty much unplayable. [Read More]

Sleeping Dogs: Nightmare in North Point review

United Front's open-world Hong Kong crime thriller wasn't exactly shy about borrowing from the Grand Theft Auto playbook when Sleeping Dogs launched back in August, so it's not that much of a surprise to see the developer taking inspiration from another Rockstar hit for this single-player add-on chapter. Just as Red Dead Redemption looked to the darkness for its Undead Nightmare spin-off, so Nightmare in North Point drops a big bloody slab of horror into the neon sprawl of Hong Kong. [Read More]

The Witcher 3: White Orchard Secondary Quests and Witcher Contracts

The bonus quests in the White Orchard region of the Witcher 3 provide a gentle introduction to this pleasant but impoverished rural backwater, one full of occupying forces, farms, hostile peasants, wolves, and a ghostly presence at the well. The first Contract mission you receive - Devil in the Well - isn't a particularly challenging one, but it should give you a flavour of how most of the Contracts are structured: talk to someone, do some Witchering, and then kill something.
