In Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Anakin Skywalker still doesn't like sand

In Star Wars Episode 2, Anakin Skywalker makes it clear to poor Padmé that he really doesn't like sand, in one breath crushing the fledgling couple's dreams of sunny holidays on sandy beaches. And so it's only right that Anakin Skywalker's upcoming incarnation in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 also doesn't like sand. I mean, it's hard to change your mind about something like sand, even over the coarse of 17 years. [Read More]

Life is Strange dev's acclaimed supernatural mystery thriller Tell Me Why is currently free

All three episodes of Life is Strange developer Dontnod's well-received supernatural mystery adventure Tell Me Why are currently free on PC and Xbox. Tell Me Why, if you're unfamiliar, tells the story of twins Tyler and Alyson as they reunite, after several years apart, to sell their childhood home in the picturesque Alaskan town of Delos Crossing - a task that ultimately forces them to confront their traumatic past. What follows is a deft blend of supernatural mystery thriller and earnest, character-driven homecoming drama - there's real beauty and warmth in the relationship between its twin protagonists - that's arguably Dontnod's most assured, consistently enjoyable outing yet, even if its perhaps not quite as devastatingly memorable as its Life is Strange forebears. Project Zomboid is getting co-op map making

Project Zomboid is getting a new Creative Mode. Creative Mode is designed to help players build maps for the zombie survival role-playing game faster than they have been able to in the past, developer The Indie Stone said. "In essence, it lets you edit the map in any way you can imagine," the developer said. "You can use any buildings or other map pieces available: whether you're subscribed to them on Steam Workshop, copying and pasting them from the existing PZ map or creating them yourself. The Beginner's Guide review | Eurogamer.net

The second game from the creator of The Stanley Parable is an intensely personal character study and one of the most daring games in years. Davey Wreden's debut effort The Stanley Parable was vaguely autobiographical. While its whimsical tale of a narrator consistently butting heads with an unpredictable player character was funny, it also touched on more universal themes like the nature of free will, the void between thought and action, and the conflicting internal monologues that drive, confuse, and haphazardly guide us through life. What's the deal with steering wheels for PS4 and Xbox One?

Many gamers forked out hundreds of pounds for expensive steering wheel peripherals for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 - only to find they do not work on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In October we reported on Evolution's PS4-exclusive racing game DriveClub and the steering wheels it officially supports: Thrustmaster's new T80 and T300RS wheels. "We've been working really closely with Thrustmaster on their new T80 and T300RS wheels, to make sure that they're perfectly tuned for DriveClube and the PS4," [Read More]

Dark Souls 3 speedrunner has already finished the game in 102 minutes

Dark Souls 3 hasn't even launched in the west, but after only a week of being available in Japan a speedrunner has completed From Software's latest opus in one hour, 42 minutes and 10 seconds. Now before anyone says "it's only two hours long" I want to be clear that Dark Souls 3 is much, much longer than that. I just rolled credits on my imported copy last night after roughly 37 hours (a bit less as you can't pause and the timer ticks during bathroom breaks), though I'm a veteran of the series who has played through each previous outing several times. Firewatch is taking another stab at a film adaptation

Firewatch, developer Campo Santo's acclaimed 2014 first-person narrative mystery, is getting a second chance at getting the movie adaptation treatment. Word of a Firewatch film adaptation first broke in 2016, when it was reported that Campo Santo had signed a deal with production company Good Universe. However, the movie rights zipped back to the developer when Good Universe became a subsidiary of Lionsgate in 2017. The celluloid dream never died, though, and The Hollywood reporter now writes that indie production company Snoot Entertainment - responsible for the likes of Blindspotting and Little Monsters - has taken on the mantle, with Keith Calder and Jess Wu Calder set to produce. Frog Fraction 2 is real, it's here, but is it any good?

A long time ago, on an internet far, far way, Jim "Twinbeard" Crawford released a free browser game called Frog Fractions. Its absurdist humour and unpredictable string of non-sequiturs allowed the curio to go viral, resulting in a successfully crowdfunded sequel, Frog Fractions 2. There was a catch, however: the Frog Fractions sequel was to be released in secret, as a hidden part of another game. After three years of an almost completely inscrutable ARG consisting of hidden codes in other games, alleged time travellers, escape the room games, and mysterious parcels shipped to the most diligent of internet sleuths, the elusive Frog Fractions sequel was discovered in a recently released Adult Swim game called Glittermitten Grove. Halo Infinite's Big Team Battle mode has the potential to be something truly special

I had a blast playing Halo Infinite's Big Team Battle mode over the weekend. 343 opened the floodgates to Halo Infinite's multiplayer, and 12v12 Big Team Battle was the star. Previous tests revolved around 4v4 Slayer, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but it was in Infinite's bigger map that Halo's fabled sandbox truly shined. And it's in BTB that the new tools 343 has added into the mix have the breathing space to create the kind of organised chaos Halo is famous for. [Read More]
