Murdered: Soul Suspect review | Eurogamer.net

A curious and offbeat detective adventure that makes up in personality what it lacks in depth and technical polish. I'm over halfway through Murdered: Soul Suspect when I realise something: I've not shot or punched anyone during the whole time I've been playing. Nor, it turns out, will I shoot or punch anyone for the remainder of the game. It's a testament to the game's peculiar strengths that it manages to feel like an action game while cleverly distracting you from the fact you're not actually getting much action. [Read More]

The original Unreal Tournament just got a new patch with hundreds of fixes

The original and best Unreal Tournament, released back in 1999, has just received a new patch. Update version 469 is available now from Github, and is designed for the small community of PC players still logging on to frag each other and score m-m-m-monster kills with well-placed Redeemer shots on Facing Worlds. The patch is the work of the OldUnreal forum, building on work from the UTPG (Unreal Tournament Preservation Group), a collective of community programmers and server admins that took over after Epic Games wound up its official support. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth | Eurogamer.net

So, this is the PSP RPG you've been waiting for. It's intelligent in design, rich in storytelling, expertly paced in action, deep and meaningful in dialogue, beautifully scored and stunningly hand-drawn and animated. It boasts near imperceptible loading, and urgently presses into your palms a battle mechanic that's at once quickly accessible in the short term and genuinely compulsive in the long. And yet, in so many other ways, it's not the PSP RPG you've been waiting for at all. [Read More]

What's Fable really all about?

Good and evil is barely the start of it, frankly. Fable is one of those rare, fascinating game series upon which nobody can really seem to agree about anything for very long. It's a shallow RPG, or maybe it's a canny and satirical examination of RPGs in general. It's hilarious - oh, the burping! Or maybe it's just juvenile. Let's face it: Fable's easy to the point of being obsequious, isn't it? [Read More]

When it comes to Spain, I kind of wish Civ 6 had chosen a different Philip

Sid Meier's Civilization games are brilliant for learning about historical figures. Historical figures such as Pedro II of Brazil, say, who had passed me by before Civ 5's Brave New World expansion introduced us, and who turned out to be a man who was seriously missing from my life. Gentle and rather sad, Pedro II never really wanted to be ruler, but he still aced it if you ask me: he abolished slavery and - this is a recent discovery of mine - he was close friends with Jean-Martin Charcot, the father of modern neurology. UPDATE 9/1/19: It was a new Ana skin and it's in the game now, added in an update yesterday evening. You can't buy the epic-grade Ana skin because it's a special reward for completing a new "Bastet" challenge - Bastet being the name of the short story talked about below - but the challenge is easy. All you have to do is win nine games across Quick Play, Competitive and Arcade, playing as any hero, and you'll unlock the skin. [Read More]
