Call of Duty nails battle royale with a blistering, jank-free experience. One of my favourite things to do in Blackout, Call of Duty's take on battle royale, is to crash through windows. I know it makes a lot of noise, I know it alerts nearby enemies to my position and I know there's a door right next to the window. But I just can't help myself. Sprint, vault, smash! I'm inside, glass on the floor, loot to pick up or - hopefully - an enemy player who dies at my hand while marvelling at the grandeur of my entrance.

Naughty Dog has released the first official photo from the set of HBO's upcoming The Last of Us, showing Joel and Ellie in costume. Fans of the series will immediately recognise the duo - even if the photo doesn't show their faces - dressed in their familiar outfits.
"When I first saw them on set in full costume, I was like: 'Hooooooly shit! It's Joel & Ellie! [Crying emoji]!'" Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann wrote on Twitter.

UPDATE 27/2/17 8:45am: Patch 1.02 has dropped for Horizon Zero Dawn, delivering a small range of changes and updates. However, for PS4 Pro owners, the ability to choose two rendering modes is now available with users able to favour performance or resolution. Prior implementations of performance modes in the likes of Knack, Rise of the Tomb Raider and the inFamous titles have seen developers unlock the frame-rate, leading to a much faster, but often more jerky experience.

UPDATE 27/10/21: Sony has now officially announced Apple Music support for PlayStation 5, following the leak spotted and tested by Eurogamer earlier this month. PS5 is the first console to offer Apple Music. If you're a subscriber you can access the service's 90 million song library, music videos, playlists and radio, and use it similarly to Spotify to stream music in the background.
The Apple Music app should be available to download today, PlayStation said in a new blog post.

The FMV thriller is fully exhumed in this splicing of game and cinema, where high production values fail to obscure the creative fissures. For those who view video games as an adjunct to cinema rather than an alternative, the rise and fall of the interactive movie in the mid-1990s was something of a befuddling mystery. For a moment, and from a particular angle, the cinematic Choose Your Own Adventure, a genre facilitated by the advent of CD-Rom technology that allowed film clips to be spliced together to tell a story according to the whims of the viewer, seemed like the future of games.

After an otherwise quiet N7 Day celebration for Mass Effect fans, BioWare revealed one brilliant tease for the next entry in its space opera saga. A detailed teaser image, revealed on Twitter last night and then via EA's website in higher definition, has set fans' tongues wagging as the series' community seeks to analyse every pixel. Mass Effect will continue... On the surface, this is a top-down shot of an impact crater, with a very Mass Effect-y ship parked right below.

Now this is something different. It's the usual form for graphics cards vendors to unleash a brand new architecture with their latest and greatest high-end products. Yet here we are, with Nvidia's eagerly awaited new "Maxwell" technology receiving its debut in the form of a mainstream gaming product - the £115 GeForce GTX 750 Ti. What the new card may lack in raw gaming power, it more than makes up for in terms of efficiency and sheer innovation - in many ways, it's a stunning little piece of technology.

Pathfinder mains have had a bit of a rough year so far: ever since the patch in May increased his grapple ability cooldown from 15 to 35 seconds, the days of flying through Apex Legends battles with ease have become rather distant. So when the recent Aftermarket update patch notes mentioned a change to how the cooldown worked, many Pathfinder players thought their luck was in - until they saw the reality in practice.

Sheltered is an interesting attempt to simulate the life of a post-nuclear family, but it falls short of its potential. Sheltered has turned me into a child slaver. Sort of.. I mean, my children are regularly fed and watered. They get sleep whenever they need it and opportunities to use the restroom, even shower when we've had a proper rain. The only thing I ask of them in this post-apocalyptic survival simulation is that they build furniture, fix utilities, and only occasionally put on radiation suits to venture into the wilderness for the good of the family.

Out of the blue, Prison Architect has added cooperative multiplayer.
It's far from finished and requires opting into alpha/beta updates on Steam if you want to try it, but once enabled you can happily go about building a top-notch prison with your friends (up to seven).
There's plenty that doesn't work in multiplayer because the game was never meant to have it, but Introversion has plenty of ideas about how to flesh it out and improve it so long as you want it.
