No further Animal Crossing: New Horizons paid DLC planned

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' upcoming Happy Home Paradise expansion will be the game's "first and only paid DLC", Nintendo has now clarified. The Mario maker previously said this week's huge 2.0 update for the game would be its last major free release, marking the end of regular new content for the game. But this still left the door open for future paid offerings. During a preview session for Happy Home Paradise, Eurogamer asked Nintendo about the game's future - but Nintendo declined to comment at the time. [Read More]

Replicating Blade Runner: why the adventure game classic is so tough to remaster

When Nightdive Studios announced it was working on a remaster of the beloved 1997 point-and-click adventure Blade Runner, it said the game would come out on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch later in 2020. Eurogamer can reveal that won't happen, as development on the game has run into a raft of challenges that have complicated the work. Nightdive Studios, which is known for restoring classic games such as System Shock and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, secured a licence from Blade Runner rights holder Alcon Entertainment back in December 2019, and set to work remastering Westwood Studios' cinematic adventure. The sorry state of The Stomping Land, another abandoned Kickstarter video game

It appears that The Stomping Land, a multiplayer survival game about dinosaurs that raised over $100,000 on Kickstarter, is finally dead. In a post on The Stomping Land forum (thanks, PC Gamer), Konstantinov claimed Fundora had ignored his repeated attempts at contact. [Read More]

Treyarch has made a big change to damage flinch for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

In previous Call of Duty games, including last year's Modern Warfare, when you take damage you suffer damage flinch. That is, your crosshair moves up slightly as bullets hit you. This damage flinch effect has proved controversial among the Call of Duty competitive multiplayer community, with many saying they'd prefer to play without having their aim disrupted by being shot. As well as being one of our favourite handheld series of all-time, WarioWare games have also displayed an uncanny knack of perfectly demonstrating fairly abstract control systems in the most intuitive fashion possible. Small wonder, then, that Smooth Moves arrives so soon after the launch to capitalise - as well as build - on the novelty value of the supremely capable motion sensitive Wii Remote. [Read More]
