How Resident Evil 7 is censored in Japan

Resident Evil 7 may have been made in Japan, but that doesn't mean its native country is getting its native version. Either that or the Japanese version is the developer's intended vision and Capcom simply added more gore to appease a western audience's bloodlust. Either way, the Japanese edition of Resi 7 is less gory in a myriad of ways. As reported by YouTube channel Censored Gaming, Resi 7's Japanese release strongly tones down the game's horror imagery. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate review - definitive, dated but still delightful

A grab bag of everything that made the purely portable iterations shine, Ultimate Generations is arcane but absolutely brilliant. Did we really used to live like this? Going back to the last generation of Capcom's long-running series having spent the best part of 100 hours with all the mod cons of this year's Monster Hunter: World can be a galling experience. It's a bit like being in The 1900 House as you marvel at all the inconveniences and quirks that people used to contend with on a daily basis. [Read More]

PUBG has an April Fools' arcade minigame where you fight chickens

It's April Fools' Day, and aside from being a living nightmare for journalists around the world, it's also an opportunity for game developers to put out some very silly stuff. This year it seems PUBG Corp has taken up the gauntlet, releasing an arcade-style minigame for PUBG where you fight chickens. And it's called POBG (short for Playeromnomnom's Battlegrounds) - although that doesn't exactly solve the debate on how to pronounce the acronym. [Read More]

Rockstar explains GTA IV's DRM

Grand Theft Auto IV for PC will come equipped with DRM software to protect the game from naughty pirates, Rockstar has said, but there's no limit on concurrent installations. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine - pretty much the best Space Marine game ever made - turned 10 years old this week, and to celebrate it received a special Anniversary Edition on PC (thanks, PCGamesN). Space Marine was developed by Dawn of War and Company of Heroes maker Relic Entertainment for release in 2011 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Assassin's Creed Valhalla reveals a teasing autumn roadmap

A new development roadmap for Assassin's Creed Valhalla has highlighted four content drops coming this autumn. Several things stand out. First, the upcoming Oskoreia Festival due sometime later this season. Interestingly, this is not the Halloween Samhain festival fans were expecting - an event which also forms part of Valhalla's main campaign. Instead the Oskoreia Festival seems based on the folk myth of a monstrous Viking Wild Hunt led by Asgardian raiders, and sometimes Odin himself. [Read More]
