Remember TimeSplitters Rewind? The last time we reported on the fan-made recreation of TimeSplitters 1, 2 and 3 was back in 2018. Now, it's reemerged with a 30 minute gameplay video.
For the uninitiated, TimeSplitters was the game some of the key creators of seminal console shooter GoldenEye left Rare to make back in the late '90s (check out our oral history of Perfect Dark to find out the inside story on that).

Warpips belongs to a class of games that I buy because they remind me of Advance Wars - visually at least. In truth, Warpips is not Advance Wars, and it's not trying to be, and that's fine because the thing it is trying to be is pretty excellent anyway.
Warpips Developer: Skirmish Mode Games Publisher: Daedalic Entertainment Platform: Played on PC Availability: Out now on PC in Early Access I think this is tug-of-war at heart.

Ubisoft handles the hunt for Jack the Ripper with surprising care, but familiar gameplay. Ubisoft's announcement that it would adapt the murders of Jack the Ripper into a rip-roaring epilogue for Assassin's Creed Syndicate rose some eyebrows. How would the developer handle the gruesome murders? Would you play as Jack during them? After Syndicate's solid main storyline and well-written cast of characters, it was a risky swansong to take on.

Today's update for Assassin's Creed Valhalla adds a smattering of new skills, another slew of bug fixes, and the handy ability to switch off cinematic finishers. Finishers are the exaggerated moves Eivor will regularly pull off when downing an enemy: hacking the necks of wolves, stabbing banner-holding enemies through with their own flagpole, suffocating goliaths until you hear their neck crack.
These are cool to watch at the start of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Persia is one of two new civs coming soon to Civilization 6, Firaxis has announced.
Persia is led by Cyrus II, more commonly known as Cyrus the Great. He founded the Achaemenid (Persian) Empire, which was, prior to the conquests of Alexander the Great, the largest the world had ever seen.
Persia's unique unit is The Immortal, a swordsman replacement with a ranged attack but a strong combat defence as well.

The Eve Online mobile game Eve Echoes launches today.
The free-to-download iOS and Android MMO includes features players of Eve Online will be familiar with, such as mining, exploration, PvP and PvE. There's trading, too, in a persistent universe of over 8000 solar systems.
Eve Echoes exists in a parallel New Eden for players. Battles can hit up to 100 players, which is nowhere near as many as in the PC version, but pretty impressive for mobile.

Weather effects and party balloons see a knockabout charmer return in decent form.My favourite character in the new Just Cause is called Larry. That's what I decided to call him anyway. When I met him, Larry was - how can I say this? - recently dead. Furthemore, Larry was - how can I say this? - attached to the fender of the car I had probably used to kill him.
