Valve shows off Steam Deck's cute carry case (and the cardboard box everything comes in)

Usually, the first step after purchasing an expensive bit of portable consumer electronics (apart from turning it on and going "woo", of course) is to find some sort of case to put it in. Ordinarily this is the point where I just cram my new purchase into a sock with a resigned sigh and have done with it, but Valve has you covered as far as Steam Deck goes, and has offered a look at the cute little carry case all units of its handheld gaming PC will ship with. Video: Are the Far Cry games connected?

With the exception of a few characters from Far Cry 3 popping up in Far Cry 4's Kyrat, the general assumption is that each Far Cry game stands alone, lacking any significant narrative links. The thing is, I'm a massive Far Cry nerd and, after noticing numerous subtle details in Far Cry 4 that seemed to reference past games and characters, I decided to dig a bit deeper. After wading through the endless swamp of online speculation, I've got a pretty solid theory (I think) that not only ties the whole series together, but also points us toward a possible setting for Far Cry 5. Destiny 2 Whisper quest: How to unlock Whisper of the Worm and solve the Oracle puzzle

Destiny 2 Whisper quest is a bonus mission quietly added to the game as part of the July 2018 update. Somewhat of a remake of the famed Black Spindle quest from the original Destiny, the mission is accessed through specific steps in a seemingly ordinary activity. From there, you must complete it within a strict time limit. The reward? An Exotic sniper rifle named Whisper of the Worm, which is essentially the Black Spindle, making it one of the game's most useful weapons. [Read More]

Discounted GTA5 for PS5 unavailable via PlayStation webstore

The new version of Grand Theft Auto 5 for PlayStation 5 still hasn't shown up on the PSN webstore, users have spotted. It is similarly unlisted via the PS4 store, meaning you need access to a PS5 to take advantage of its currently-discounted price. Eurogamer readers who pointed this out say this differs from how PS4 owners can use the webstore to buy other PS5 titles or redeem PS5-exclusive PS Plus titles and add them to their library. Games like Outcast and Age Of Kings have stood out, and the year ended on top form with Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena both reaching shelves in time for Christmas. [Read More]

Mundaun review - striking hand-drawn horror that almost nails it

Mundaun's haunting, pencil-sketch style works wonders, but a few repetitive fetch-quests and slightly underwhelming systems hold it back. Editor's note: Hello! Over the next few days we're running a "Games That Got Away" series, where we finally get round to reviewing games that released at some point in 2021 but, for various reasons, we couldn't quite manage to cover at the time. We've gone back to a few real gems, so for more catch-up reviews like this one head to the Games That Got Away hub, where all our pieces from the series will be rounded up in one convenient place.
