Mass Effect mod returns lost DLC to Legendary Edition

Mass Effect 1's combat-focused Pinnacle Station - the only piece of extra content left out of this year's bumper Legendary Edition - has been added back into the game by fans. Prior to the Legendary Edition's release, BioWare let fans know that Pinnacle Station would sadly not be present as its original source code was lost, and a backup had corrupted. Without this, BioWare said, the DLC would take months of work to restore. [Read More]

Someone should make a game about: the Lego Brick Separator

I had been out of the Lego scene for a while by the time my daughter started playing with the stuff. In the sets she opened there was often this odd thing that put me in mind of a ski, or maybe even a ski slope. It didn't seem to be part of the main design. It looked more like a tool, albeit one whose purpose struck me as being slightly alien. [Read More]

This Skyrim mod lets you adopt cats - if you can convince them

There's plenty of dogs to be found around Skyrim, but where are the cats? That's something that several mods have sought to fix over the years, yet the latest introduces some more complicated adoption and needs systems to make sure you're furry immersed. Having been in development since 2018, A Cat's Life is a mod by Darkfox127 releasing on 1st August for both Legendary and Special Edition Skyrim. The mod allows players to adopt cats from most major cities, but things aren't quite as straightforward as just asking: some of the stray cats need to be convinced. [Read More]

What made Super Mario 64 so special?

The Wii U re-release of Super Mario 64 seems like the perfect time for a retrospective, especially when you realise it's been nearly 20 years since its release in 1996. But there's something about the idea of a retrospective that doesn't quite fit this game. Hindsight is often ahistorical, free of the day-to-day chatter and contemporary context. A pioneering work like Super Mario 64, on the other hand, is impossible to divorce from its context because those same factors made it more than a great game. [Read More]

Why can't Destiny 2 run at 60fps on PS4 Pro?

Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 will offer full PlayStation 4 Pro support, but some users have voiced concerns that the developer has chosen to target 4K display support instead of 60fps gameplay. The thinking is straightforward enough - ultra HD offers prettier visuals of course, but smoother gameplay offers lower latency and a higher level of precision response. This is exactly why franchise FPS titles like Battlefield and Halo transitioned across to 60 frames per second. [Read More]

Activision says Prestige is coming to Call of Duty: Warzone, Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War

Call of Duty: Warzone, Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War are all getting a cross-title Prestige system of sorts. Season One of Black Ops Cold War, which starts in December, brings universal and synchronised player progression that works between Black Ops Cold War, Modern Warfare, and Warzone. The Black Ops Cold War progression is similar to Modern Warfare's and incorporates a Prestige system, Activision said. Prestige, a long-standing and popular method of keeping Call of Duty players interested for months on end by letting them restart progression and re-lock functional items over and over, was ditched for Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare in favour of an Officer Ranks system. Black Ops: Cold War best guns explained - Our best assault rifle, sniper rifle, shotgun, SMG and LMG weapon recommendations

If you want to give yourself in every firefight, then you're going to want to know what the Black Ops Cold War best guns are. While any weapon can be lethal in the right hands, it always helps to know which weapons are at the front of the pack. It may feel like an unfair advantage, but it's just playing smarter, not harder. Unlike the M4A1 in the early days of Modern Warfare, there doesn't appear to be one best weapon to rule them all - at least not yet. [Read More]

Cyberpunk 2077 - Car buying and stealing: How to buy cars, motorbikes and how to steal vehicles explained

Cars and motorbikes are the best way to travel Night City if you want to both arrive quickly and enjoy the view in Cyberpunk 2077. While V does own a car, you might find yourself wanting a faster or cooler looking ride as the game progresses, which means you'll need to buy a car or motorbike. Though, if you're low on Eddies, you could always steal a car - this is Night City after all. [Read More]
