Undertale music played at the Pope's latest audience

Who knew Pope Francis was a fan of Undertale? The Pope this week continued his weekly General Audiences in the Paul VI Audience Hall of The Vatican, albeit now with a socially distanced audience. There he sat on a throne in front of an elaborate wooden sculpture like a Final Fantasy boss for an hour long service. In the middle of it all, though, was a circus act who performed to the song " [Read More]

Blizzard changes Overwatch "gg ez" messages into something very different

Nobody likes a sore loser, but a sore winner is even worse. It's one thing to fail in a match of Overwatch, but it takes out all the good sportsmanship when your opponent messages you a mocking "gg ez" (lingo for "Good game. Easy", as in easily won). That's why Blizzard has taken to filtering this phrase into very different messages in its latest public testing realm. Type in "gg ez" [Read More]

Doom Eternal analysis: how id Tech 7 pushes current-gen consoles to the limit

Doom 2016 revitalised the fortunes of both id software and the classic Doom franchise, delivering a phenomenal, exhilarating focus on high-speed combat, extreme gore and sprawling stage design. It was a modern, refreshed take on a retro classic, underpinned by some of the most impressive tech in the business. And the good news is that Doom Eternal one-ups it in every way. it's harder, faster and sleeker. It's larger in scale both in terms of level design and the amount of enemies you'll battle - and it's more optimal too: we've managed to get the PC version running at around 300 to 500 frames per second. Dragon's Dogma 2 is in development

It's been a long old wait but Capcom has finally announced it's working on a sequel to cult-classic fantasy RPG Dragon's Dogma. It was in this retrospective livestream that Capcom's long-awaited announcement was finally made, with series director Hideaki Itsuno revealing that Dragon's Dogma 2 is currently in development by whipping off his jacket to reveal a t-shirt emblazoned with the sequel's logo. Fallout 4 on PS4 Pro: the upgrade we've been waiting for?

Fallout 4's new PS4 pro update has landed. As promised by Bethesda's blog, patch 1.14 (also known as 1.9) pushes the game to a native 1440p, adding in expanded draw distances and a higher grade god ray effect. It also improves frame-rates compared to a regular PS4, but we're still some way off a 30fps lock. However there's a twist: by using patches earlier than 1.14, and selecting PS4 Pro's boost mode option, it's possible to achieve smoother results than Bethesda's official patch - although all other Pro enhancements are obviously left off the table. LEGO Star Wars Force Awakens codes and cheats list

As with every LEGO game, you can shortcut the path to unlocking certain characters in LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens by inserting cheat codes - handy if you're after your favourites, or need access to a character with a particular set of skills. You can do this in the game's pause menu, and then selecting 'Enter Code', and then cheat for the character you'd like. Note that unlocking them doesn't necessarily mean they are available to use right away; the vast majority of characters require you to then buy them with studs before you can take them for a spin. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain review

Hideo Kojima's farewell to Metal Gear Solid is a dream: the best ever stealth game, and the high point of a remarkable series. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is a dream game. It's the kind of game that, in 1987, the young designer of the 8-bit Metal Gear may have dreamed would one day be possible. It's the kind of game that players like me dream of: an enormous and deep and seemingly endless experience that's worth the investment and then some. [Read More]
