The Double A-Team: X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Uncaged Edition) was a bracingly bloodthirsty berserker barrage

A new Wolverine game? From Insomniac, careful and conscientious crafters of recent PlayStation blockbusters Spider-Man and Miles Morales? Sign me up, bub, even after that briefest of cinematic trailers where all you really see of Marvel's prickly brawler is a scruffy lumberjack shirt, a battered cowboy hat and the familiar "snikt" of adamantium blades popping out of bloodied knuckles. This unexpected comeback for the hirsute, hair-trigger mutant - in a proper PlayStation 5 game, not just as a Fortnite skin - harks back to the period where Wolverine was a permanent fixture. If you'd been hoping that you might get to lay your hands on the highly-anticipated The Elder Scrolls 6 later this year, you might have to adjust your expectations: according to a now suspiciously-deleted LinkedIn profile, the game is seemingly still in pre-production. The employment profile - which was reportedly updated in January 2022 - comes from a new starter at Bethesda, who reportedly joined the studio in talent acquisition just this month. [Read More]

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild glitch lets you see underwater

Ever wondered what's underwater in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? One player has had a peek - and it's gorgeous. A player used a glitch to have a look underwater in the Nintendo Switch masterpiece, and revealed a huge amount of beautiful detail normally concealed from the player. The clip shows fish swimming about and plenty of colourful coral. Shadows are cast on the sea bed, too. [Read More]

Assassin's Creed Odyssey DLC breezes past its baby controversy and doesn't dare look back

Assassin's Creed Odyssey's third DLC chapter Bloodline wraps up its Legacy of the First Blade arc with barely a nod to the controversy surrounding January's episode, and a final conclusion that does nothing to correct the clanger Ubisoft dropped. It's perhaps unsurprising - this expansion was planned out and worked on before the main Odyssey released, long before the eruption of fan fury at the start of this year, and leaving promised tweaks to January's episode minor at best - and yet I continue to be amazed Ubisoft never sense-checked its script before signing it off. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 update adds exciting new weapons but locks them behind loot boxes

Black Ops 4 is a potentially great game marred by monetisation issues. Along with the hugely unpopular decision to introduce loot boxes four months after launch, Activision has introduced several laughable microtransactions such as £20 hammers and £1.79 smiley face reticles (yes, really). Now, things have taken a turn for the worse yet again, as the hugely promising Days of Summer update has locked nearly all the update's new weapons behind loot boxes. [Read More]
