More people are working on Call of Duty than live in my village

Over 3000 of Activision's employees are currently working on Call of Duty alone. To put that in perspective, that is more than the entire population of the village that I live in. To put those numbers into a different perspective, that is over 30 percent of Activision's entire workforce (which, is roughly 9800), and close to half of its total developers (6800). "We are working on the most ambitious plan in Call of Duty history, with over 3000 people now working on the franchise and a return to the Modern Warfare setting that delivered our most successful Call of Duty title ever," [Read More]

Nathan Fillion replaced by Nolan North for his Destiny character's final appearance

Firefly and Castle actor Nathan Fillion did not return to record lines for this September's Destiny 2: Forsaken - the expansion which will see his fan-favourite character Cayde-6 killed off for good. Speaking on the Kotaku Splitscreen podcast, Fillion said he was "unavailable" to voice the franchise mascot's final appearance. Cayde is instead played by Nolan North, who previously took over the role of Destiny's Ghost after Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage was replaced. [Read More]

Switch's Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition is far from definitive

Before we go on, let's stress that Rayman Legends is and has always been a highly enjoyable platformer - one of the best of the last five years - and it's the same core game released today on Switch. As beautiful as ever, Legends is a great fit for Nintendo's console hybrid, but there's a problem: it's called the Definitive Edition when the reality is that the port has so many small niggles that the label just isn't accurate. The Ramp is a small game that perfectly captures the feeling of skateboarding

Recently, I've been skateboarding. I've been skating before starting work for the day, and I've skated once I'm all done. Unlike a fair share of my colleagues, I haven't picked up actual skateboarding during the pandemic - I've looked to videogames as wish-fulfilment for that, and my latest obsession is called The Ramp. The Ramp Developer: Hyperparadise Publisher: Hyperparadise Platform: Played on PC Availability: Out now on PC When I first saw The Ramp, it was via a gif on Twitter - a ramp in front of a blue background, lit by the digital approximation of a low afternoon sun drawing some choice shadows. Thousands of World of Warcraft Classic players descended upon a single server to get a fresh levelling experience - and it was absolute chaos

Thousands of World of Warcraft Classic players last night descended upon a single server to get a fresh levelling experience - and it was absolute chaos. Last week, I reported on how over one thousand World of Warcraft players had banded together to create a "fresh" experience in the Classic version of the famous MMO. In the absence of incoming fresh servers with the launch of Burning Crusade Classic, those who only now fancy playing the famous MMO as it was in 2004 face starting on realms filled with maximum level players and botting. Titan Quest review - not all Switch ports are created equal

An admirable ARPG gets lost in a less than thoughtful Switch port. Titan Quest is often mentioned in the same breath as Diablo, as though a long but monstrously tough rope binds them together. I'm not sure who this annoys most - Titan Quest's creators Iron Lore or even Diablo creator Blizzard itself - but suffice to say, 12 years after the isometric action role-playing game was originally released, I'm doing it, too.
