Metroid Dread speedrunners have now finished the game in under 90 minutes.
The Metroid series has always been popular with the speedrunning community who regularly find sequence breaks to force their way through the game that little bit quicker.
However, speedrunning records for Metroid Dread have avoided a popular sequence break to kill the towering boss Kraid using the morph ball bomb. The time it would take to collect that item early would be a net loss in the overall time.

Payday 2 releases on Steam on 13th August, Overkill has announced.
The game will release on other platforms, including PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, between 13th and 16th August, the developer said.
Payday 2, the follow-up to Payday: The Heist, is a co-op multiplayer shooter that revolves around a heist mechanic.

A new update for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl will enable players to encounter Pokémon Legends: Arceus' very own Arceus (try saying that five times quickly!).
The Pokémon Company announced today that players will also have the chance to befriend Darkrai in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl thanks to this new update.

Following last week's news that the Ultimate Edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS5 would include a remaster of the original PS4 Spider-Man, Sony has moved to offer clarification on the many questions still surrounding its release, confirming, among other things, that there's no free upgrade path for existing Spider-Man owners on PS4.

Splatoon, Nintendo's comical paint-based brawler about squid-human hybrid children, is getting an anime spin-off.
As reported by Japanese magazine CoroCoro (via JapaneseNintendo), the series will premiere on CoroCoro's YouTube page on 12th August.
CoroCoro already has a manga serialisation of Splatoon in its magazine, so it seems likely that the anime will follow along these lines. Whether it's a straight adaptation of that or a sequel is yet to be seen.
