God of War review: astonishing technological craft in the service of simple pleasures

Despite eye-catching changes, the heart of this series remains gloriously unaltered. Remove the heart. Climb on the chest, feet slapping against sinew and skin. The ruined flesh beneath shudders but holds. The first incision. One to pierce the surface. The second to part the ribs with a brisk crack. The heart is in there, but it's well connected. Reach deep. Pull. Remove the heart. Pull. Nintendo is gradually making improvements to the Nintendo 64 app for Switch Online players. Last week the addition of Banjo-Kazooie to the service came with a 1.2 update for the app that made some changes, including reduced input lag. According to YouTube channel Modern Vintage Gamer, the input lag has been significantly improved across the board. "The input lag has had some work," he said. "It's certainly not fixed, but it is better than the original release and it does show me that Nintendo is listening, or at least reading the feedback and trying to address these things. [Read More]

Nintendo has filed another 1300 copyright strikes against a music-sharing YouTube channel

Nintendo has once again taken aim at YouTube channels streaming soundtracks from its games. The takedowns started over a year ago now, in December 2020, after which Nintendo fans hit back at the decision to block the soundtracks of games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, and Mario Kart Wii by trolling the company on social media. As I wrote back in December 2020, Nintendo is of course absolutely entitled to do this, but once again it hasn't explained why it's forcibly removing the music from YouTube, nor offered an alternative place for fans to listen to their favourite tracks. Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto event times, rewards, research and free activities explained

Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto is part of the Pokémon anniversary celebrations, with a focus, as the name suggests, on the first region we ever visited in the Pokémon universe. Throughout Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto you'll be able to complete a number of Collection Challenges and research quests. Pokémon from the Kanto region will also be appearing more frequently in the wild. Before you start enjoying the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, however, you'll want to know the event's start time, decide whether you want to have a paid or free-to-play experience and, if you do purchase a ticket, decide whether you're playing the Red or Green version of the event. The Mii creation feature was originally announced at the start of May, in a message sent out to all users of Nintendo's social-focussed Miitomo app - just prior to its closure. "With the end of Miitomo service," Nintendo explained, "it will no longer be possible to create or edit Mii characters using Miitomo, but we are planning to add a feature in late May 2018 which will enable you to create and edit Mii characters for your Nintendo account via your web browser of choice. Activision Blizzard's controversial boss Bobby Kotick is expected to head out the door once Microsoft's groundbreaking takeover bid goes through. That's according to Wall St Journal sources, via a fresh report tonight. The question of whether Kotick would leave has remained - officially - unanswered, though the vague wording of statements from Xbox boss Phil Spencer this afternoon seemed to suggest Kotick would only stick around to see out the company's transition period. Dawn of War 3 review

Dawn of War finally returns with a fascinating, if imperfect, twist on the modern RTS. There is great joy to be had in watching big things smash into each other. It's a fact. A prima facie truth, which Relic Entertainment's long awaited Warhammer 40,000 strategy sequel understands more than any other in its genre. Within minutes of my first multiplayer game in Dawn of War 3 - a feisty one-on-one against an old friend and fellow DoW veteran - I had their whole army, plus one of the most enormous units in the series' history, suspended in mid air and torn apart at the seams with one colossal beam of energy; a last-gasp trap I'd laid in one final, desperate defence. Destiny 2 Fatebringer god roll recommendation and drop location explained

Destiny 2's Fatebringer is a kinetic weapon which has made its return to Destiny 2. A fan favourite weapon from the original Destiny, the Fatebringer's legacy was cut short due to all year one weapons having an infusion cap - until Bungie bought it back with an Exotic version as part of the Age of Triumph event several years later. Debuting in Destiny 2 during May 2021 alongside the likes of the Vex Mythoclast, the Fatebringer is a possible drop within the Vault of Glass, and comes with many of the perks which made the original so iconic in the first place.
