SBMM, short for skill-based matchmaking, may not sound like the most exciting topic in the world. But it's become the focus of a fierce debate in the Call of Duty community, following complaints about the way matchmaking worked in the recent Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Alpha. Over the weekend, a quick peek at the Cold War subreddit would tell you all was not well in alpha land: within 10 hours of the Alpha's release, players started complaining their lobbies were "

Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward has now confirmed what was widely expected: its new entry in Activision's long-running shooter series will be titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Yes, that's exactly the same name as the same studio's 2009 classic - which, with apologies, is now 13 years old. Infinfity Ward revealed the name last night via Twitter, alongside the game's logo. To me it looks more like MIIW rather than MWII.

How long is this going to go on? How often are we going to have to approach the first example of a tried-and-tested genre to arrive on the Wii - in this instance, the Gran Turismo-inspired, licence-toting driving game - with a feeling somewhere between curiosity and trepidation, wondering if it will work, if it can work? Frankly, in most cases it's doing the console no favours, and exposing some games - GT Pro Series very much being one of them - to more scrutiny than they can bear.

Microsoft just released the Classic Intellimouse, a thoroughly modern gaming mouse with a stylish white LED tail light and an advanced BlueTrack sensor that works on glass. However, some of you might notice that this 'new' mouse looks pretty familiar - and that's because the Classic is essentially a hardware 'remaster' of the 2003 Intellimouse Explorer 3.0.
Remaking hardware is arguably harder than remastering a classic game at a higher resolution, so it's generally reserved for only the most iconic products, like the Roland TR-808 drum machine or the IBM Model M keyboard.
