Pokémon Go postpones release of new Pikachu in Japan

Pokémon Go will no longer release a special edition Pikachu for the Japanese tourism hotspot of Okinawa on 22nd July. The special shirted Pikachu was due to be the game's first regional costumed creature - with more suggested to be on the way. But developer Niantic has now issued an update to say the release will no longer occur - "due to recent developments". Last week, fears over a new rise in Japanese Covid cases forced organisers of the Tokyo Olympics to decide to hold the event behind closed doors. [Read More]

Activision Blizzard suspends new sales "of and in" its games in Russia

Activision Blizzard has announced it is "suspending new sales of and in [its] games in Russia" whilst its unprovoked war against Ukraine persists. The company is also matching employee donations 2:1 to organisations "providing immediate relief in the region". Codemasters to close RF Online

Codemasters has revealed that it's going to close down its sci-fi MMO, RF Online, on the morning of 10th November in North America and Europe. Codemasters operates RF Online under licence from Korean developers CCR. According to the official site, the licence is set to expire shortly, and Codemasters and CCR couldn't agree terms for a renewal. The purchase of credits has already been taken offline, and you're encouraged to spend your remaining credits before the game closes in a little over a month's time. [Read More]

Forza Horizon 2 gets September release date

At today's E3 Xbox press conference, Playground Games' Ralph Fulton announced that Forza Horizon 2 will be released on 30th September. That's the Xbox One version for sure - the Xbox 360 version, in development at Sumo Digital, wasn't mentioned, so don't count on it arriving at the same time. Just before Fulton took the stage, Mr Forza from Turn 10 Studios, Dan Greenawalt, announced that the famous Nordschleife Nurburgring track was being added to Forza Motorsport 5 at last - from today.
