Trine 3 review | Eurogamer.net

Trine 3's vibrant world and creative physics puzzles are as appealing as ever, but the transition to 3D is a painful one. The Trine games have always been closet 3D titles. They might restrict the player to two axes of movement, but their rich fairytale landscapes act as visual plunge pools, twinkling with brilliance and irresistible in their depth. They tempt the eye to look past that single, flat plane, tantalising with hints of a much larger world. [Read More]

Aliens: Fireteam Elite adds Phalanx class in free Season 1 update

Aliens: Fireteam Elite, developer Cold Iron's solid co-op shooter spin on the classic movie franchise, has just launched its first seasonal content update on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, introducing, among other things, the brand-new Phalanx class. The Phalanx class, which will be available free to all players, comes equipped with a collapsible shield that effectively turns them into a mobile bunker. The trade-off, however, is that Phalanx players must rely on one-handed weapons (the other hand obviously being busy with that massive shield), and so the class comes armed with a handgun and CQW. Assassin's Creed Odyssey calls time on players building Story Creator levels to farm XP

Ubisoft has done a big frowny face at Assassin's Creed Odyssey players who've been cheekily - if cunningly - building levels in the recently added Story Creator mode to rapidly farm XP. Story Creator mode, which launched in June, is a remarkably robust web-based tool enabling Odyssey owners to create new quests - including branching dialogue sequences, missions, and win conditions - that can be browsed and experienced by players on all platforms. Far Cry 3 sales hit 4.5 million as Ubisoft revenues soar

Tropical shooter Far Cry 3 has now sold more than 4.5 million copies, publisher Ubisoft has announced. The company's Q3 financial results also revealed that PlayStation Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation had scored 600,000 sales. Just Dance 4 boogied past the 8 million milestone. All of these were dwarfed by the phenomenal success of Assassin's Creed 3, which has now sold 12 million copies - a 60 per cent increase on Assassin's Creed: Revelations. [Read More]

Flight Simulator camera views and 'photo mode' explained: How to go to third-person and use Active Pause

Flight Simulator marks the return of Microsoft's long-running simulation series - and it's more accessible and customisable than ever. Though it comes with a useful tutorial mode, and a full index of controls for your hardware, one of the basics which isn't too heavily explained is how to change camera views in Flight Simulator. Perhaps, wisely, the game wants you to focus on how to use a cockpit before you get distracted by the stunning views. [Read More]

G2A admits it sold stolen game keys

UPDATE 1.30pm UK: G2A has forwarded the following statement intended to show clearer contrition than in the blog post it published last night. It does not include the words apology or sorry. "We would be the first to admit that, in our formative years as a company, we took too long to recognise that a small number of individuals were abusing our Marketplace," a G2A spokesperson told Eurogamer. "However, the criticism we received was the wake-up call we needed, and over the last years we have been totally committed to tackling any incidents of fraud on our site. [Read More]

Immortals Fenyx Rising review - enjoyable but over-familiar

This Greek myth has a few borrowings too many. The cubes are probably my favourite thing about Immortals Fenyx Rising. The floating cubes. Huge cubes, taller than me, scattered nursery toys of the Gods. You whack them to start them up and then they glow and hover above the ground. In this state you can pull them about and even throw them. You can stack them and use them for all kinds of platforming puzzles. [Read More]

Kingdoms of Amalur, Aliens vs Predator now backward compatible on Xbox One

Microsoft has unveiled the latest batch of Xbox 360 titles to gain backward compatibility support on Xbox One. Now added to the ever-growing list are Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Sonic Unleashed, and Aliens vs Predator. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is certainly an interesting place to start, given its colourful history. The fantasy action-adventure RPG was developed by 38 Studios and Big Huge Games, designed by Elder Scrolls veteran Ken Rolston, and released by EA in 2012. [Read More]
